After Care
Each client’s skin responds differently to these treatments.
This information acts as a guideline only.
Immediately following your procedure, the tattooed area will appear to be darker and bolder in colour and more sharply defined. This can last up to a week after the treatment while the initial healing process takes place. The treated area may feel a bit like a sunburn afterwards but there should be minimal discomfort. Please adhere to the following instructions. This will help avoid infection and will allow time for the skin to recover. Always wash your hands thoroughly with an anti-bacterial soap before touching the tattooed area. Be sure to blot off any excess secretions with a clean cotton pad or gauze to avoid excessive scabbing. Keep the tattooed area clean and dry at all times. Failing to do so will result in poor retention or an infection. Repeat the following 2-3 times a day or until all of the scabs have fully fallen off.
DAY 1:
Apply ice to ease swelling. Lymph fluid will leak from the tattoo to form scabs. Every hour, gently blot lips with a lint-free cotton to absorb lymph fluid. Drink from a straw for the first few days. Swelling and bruising will subside after a day or two.
DAY 2-10:
Gently wash your lips with the cleanser and blot to dry. Spray tonic on a clean cotton pad and dab your lips, or spray directly on your lips with your eyes closed. Apply a small amount (size of a grain of rice) of cream to your lips, do not over apply. All products used will be provided in your aftercare kit, continue this process every day until product runs out. Be very careful not to scratch or pick the scabs. Let the scabs fall off naturally. After cleaning the tattooed area, be sure to pat the area dry with a new cotton pad or gauze. Never reuse the same cotton pad, gauze or cotton swab. Keep the lip area dry at all times. You may moisturize the lip area sparingly (size of a grain of rice) with the recommended or provided ointment.
Do not sleep on your face to avoid lifting your scabs prematurely and make sure you sleep on a clean pillowcase to avoid infection.
Avoid harsh cleansers, creams, makeup, or any other products on the treated area until all scabs have naturally fallen off.
Don’t pick, scratch, or bite off the scabs. Let the scabs fall off naturally. Picking can cause scarring, loss of pigment, or an infection.
Don’t expose your tattoo to UV rays or tanning beds for 4 weeks after the procedure. These things can alter the appearance dramatically
DO NOT USE: Vaseline, Neosporin or any petroleum based products
WHAT TO EXPECT:
During the initial healing period, there should be minimal scabbing or flaking of the skin. If there is some scabbing or flaking, do not pick, and allow the scab or dry skin to come off on its own.
Although the area will appear healed after about 10 days, the complete healing process takes about 6-8 weeks, at which time the true color of the tattoo is evident. During this process, your tattoo will soften and lighten. Be patient, even if you think too much color has been lost, as your skin is still regenerating and naturally exfoliating. Wait at least 6 weeks to see the true color, as it seems to take on new strength, and it is only after 6-8 weeks that your second session can be done.
Once Fully Healed, your tattoo will appear softer and not as crisp. Results will vary with each individual and are extremely dependant on your skin and how you care for it during healing. it may take more than one session to achieve your desired result.
